4 tips for attractive web designs

Has your website design been effectively attracting attention your customers? We have some tips to share for you to enhance the user experience of your sites and impress your visitors!

1. Place the images first before text

Like the old saying goes, a picture speaks a thousand words. Putting a good image before text is not just visually pleasing, it may help to convey messages and information in a more effective way when your potential clients first land on your page.

Tip: Choose an image that is consistent and relevant to the product target for the home page. Ensure that the image is of high quality without distortion and is not pixelated. If your company is offering a product, you can integrate the picture of it into the design. Do not add in any superfluous images as it might be misleading for your audience.

2. SmartPhone Responsive & Adaptive Design

Smartphones have overtaken desktop and laptops as the main way people access to internet and browse web pages. According to Statcounter, in 2010, only 5% of pages were accessed on mobile devices; in 2017 this reached 66% in Asia. Mobile devices have become the main tools that your customers are using to access information from the internet.

Hence, it is imperative to ensure the content they see from your website on the phone is consistent with that view on a desktop/laptop and hence your page design needs to be responsive and adaptive to different devices to ensure a good experience for your customers.

3. Web Navigation Bar Design

The most important part of each website is its navigation menu as it helps your visitors to browse your site. The main purpose of navigation is to provide a way for users to access all parts of a website from a specific point. Less is more here as users always appreciate simple and intuitive design which allows them to move to any part of the website from the specific page, which is achieved by locking the navigation menu in place.
Keep to a maximum of 7 menu items as having too many options and things to read will only lead to confusion. Another fundamental rule in usability design is not to exceed 3 layers of clicks from the home page. Avoid drop-down menus as search engines may have difficulty grabbing information from drop-down menus.

One trend that has been spreading rapidly is to do an ALL CAPs text style to create a clean and professional looking navigation. They are usually in all caps, small lettering with extra horizontal space.

4. Embrace Blank Spaces

Having adequate blank spaces helps to present a more balanced layout, presenting the effect of different elements of the designs and information clearly and helps in attracting your users’ attention.

On the contrary, having insufficient blank spaces will result in the site looking too cluttered and complicated, keeping your visitors too busy looking for the right information.
